Together with Runable: Helping Small Businesses Build, Run, and Grow

Today, Runable is announcing a $21M Series A co-led by Susquehanna Venture Capital and Nexus Venture Partners. We were the first institutional backers of Runable, in April 2025, and we've doubled down in this round. Sixteen months in, this is the first time we're talking about the investment publicly, and we've been waiting to.

Backing them at idea stage

In April 2025, when we first met Umesh & Saksham, there was no traction to underwrite. There were two founders and an energy we couldn't ignore.

Umesh had been building since he was nineteen. His first startup was acquired for a few hundred thousand dollars, and given the choice between cash and an equity exit, he took the latter: a student walking away from life-changing money because he believed the stake could grow into something bigger. The equity never amounted to much, but that kind of long-term thinking from a twenty-year-old is not something we see often.

Saksham had all the markings of a born builder: coding since twelve, a trail of side quests from running a magazine to a skincare-advice app, and a knack for being right about emerging technologies ahead of time. Bullish on GraphQL in 2017, as a teenager, years before it became the API backbone at global companies like Netflix, Amazon and Shopify. Building a terminal coding agent in 2023, when autocomplete was still the pinnacle of AI-assisted coding. No enterprise ecosystem around him: he saw it all coming just from hanging out in esoteric internet circles.

The conviction they were chasing: hundreds of millions of small businesses run on duct tape. A dozen tools that don't talk to each other, agencies that don't care, and software that was never purpose-built for them. Nobody had built the one system a small business actually runs on. The thesis alone had us excited. The two of them, and the builder mindset they brought to it, made the decision easy. Within twenty-four hours of meeting them, we had decided to partner up.

The journey over the last sixteen months

Working with them only sharpened the picture. Saksham built a world-class product with a team of fewer than ten engineers. Umesh, meanwhile, did what few technical founders manage: he handed off the code entirely, spent his days with customers, and taught himself growth from scratch.

In March '26, Runable launched its first avatar: a general AI agent built to take ideas to outcomes, generating websites, slides, videos, carousels and reports. The results went beyond our expectations:

  • Ranked #1 on key agentic AI benchmarks like Perplexity's DRACO and OpenAI's BrowseComp, beating frontier model labs and well-funded general AI agent tools.
  • Scaled to ~1M social impressions per day with an entirely AI-automated social media pipeline, bringing down CAC significantly.
  • On the strength of that product and distribution engine, Runable crossed $2M in ARR within three weeks of turning on monetization.
  • Today, 1.5 million users across the US, UK, Japan, and Brazil run their businesses on Runable, served by a team of fifteen.

On the back of these results, they closed an oversubscribed Series A.

A constant through this journey, since the first day we met them, is the ambition of this team. Not once have we found them to be thinking small or pulling punches. They have consistently outmatched us in the targets to gun for and, the best part, they have been able to nail those as well. And the bets keep getting bigger: the latest, and the largest yet, is RunGrow.

Genesis of RunGrow: Building stopped being the hard part

Software creation got automated. Hundreds of tools will now build you a website or an app. But as Umesh puts it: nobody starts a business because they want a landing page. They start it because they want customers, revenue, and a company that keeps running when they're away.

And everything after that first landing page has not moved. Running ads, publishing content, chasing leads, answering customers, keeping the operation going: all of it still depends on employee availability, agencies that don't feel the downside, and a dozen tools waiting for someone to press the buttons. That "everything after" is 95% of running a business, and it is where almost nobody is building.

That's the gap RunGrow was built to fill. It runs the business day to day and grows it: planning campaigns across ChatGPT Ads, Meta, Google, LinkedIn and TikTok, creating social content, running cold outreach on a real phone number, and handling SEO, AEO and customer support. It operates the way an employee would, except it never stops.

Umesh and Saksham call this the operating team for small businesses, and that is the right frame: not just another app builder, but the team a two-person business could never afford to hire, with one context and one memory across the whole business, from the first website to a fully operating company.

Together with Runable

We've had a front-row seat from day zero, watching a two-person idea become a company that thousands of small businesses run on. Doubling down was a no-brainer.

We couldn't be more excited to back Umesh, Saksham, and the entire Runable team and see them scale new heights!

P.S. Runable is now aggressively hiring across engineering and growth roles. If you're interested, apply at runable.com/careers.
